The Oakdale youth swimmers have hit the pool for the summer. On Friday, June 2 the Oakdale Gators Swim Team hosted its annual Swim-A-Thon at the Oakdale Aquatic Center.

There, young swimmers of all ages spent up to two hours in the pool, raising money for the season with sponsors paying by the lap or flat rate.

The team then traveled to Tokay High School in Lodi on Saturday, June 3 for the opening weekend of competition. Results were not available at press time.

The Gators are scheduled to travel to Turlock on Saturday, June 17 when they have a meet at Pitman High School. Currently on the schedule are two home meets, slated for July 8 and July 22.

Gators hold practice Monday through Thursday for kids eight and under and kids nine and older are scheduled to practice Monday through Friday; hours vary by age. All practices are held at Oakdale High School Aquatics Center. The Gators are still accepting sign-ups on their website at www.oakdaleswimteam.com.

The Gators program has been an Oakdale tradition since the 1970s.
