The perfect end to a perfect season.
Oakdale High School’s girls golf program won the Valley Oak League Championship Tournament with ease this past week. On Monday, Oct. 15 Oakdale went to Manteca Park Golf Course for the 2018 Valley Oak League Championship event. Much like they had all season, Oakdale cemented their dominance by winning the 18-hole tournament by 77 strokes.
Shooting 418 on the day, Oakdale stood tall above the rest and completed the Valley Oak League season with a perfect record. Coaches Jeremy Fields and Lee McGhee set their lineup and went with Madi Blanc, Taylor Stewart, Andrea York, Tori Blanc, Makayla Christiansen and Shealyn Hanrahan.
Madi Blanc, who shot a school record best the week prior, finished in first place amongst the 30 plus golfers who participated. Blanc shot 76 on the afternoon, including a birdie.
“We started on the front nine and it went really well for all of us,” Blanc said. “I had a few setbacks but ended up paring the following holes, luckily my teammates shot very well to help lift us.”
Blanc was named Valley Oak League Most Valuable Player and was also named to the All-Valley Oak League team.
Stewart shot 79 in the tournament and finished number two overall. The senior continues to have a decorated career and was named to the All-Valley Oak League team. Hanrahan, who shot 83 on the day, was also named to the All-Valley Oak League team. Staying in the 80s was Tori Blanc, shooting an 88 and named to the All-Valley Oak League team. Joining them on the All-VOL list were both Christiansen (92) and York (93).
On Monday, Oct. 22 the Lady Mustangs traveled to Rancho Del Rey Golf Course in Atwater for the 2018 CIF Division III Playoffs.
