Velma K. Barker, 68, died Friday, June 1 at Oak Valley Care Center.

She was born in Newman and was raised in Oakdale.

The family thanks the staff at OVCC for the love and care they gave Velma in the 16 years she lived there.

She is survived by her son, Michael Barker; mother, Velma K. Mendes; and brothers, Larry Mendes of Riverbank and Gary Mendes of Oakdale.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank S. Mendes; and twin sister, Valdine F. Lima.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 16 at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery.
