Ruby B. Lucas, 98, died Monday, April 2 at Oak Valley Care Center (OVCC), Oakdale.

She was born in Rufe, Okla. to Jim and Carrie Perrin, the oldest of seven children.

She lived in Salida since 1936, except for seven years in Washington and seven years in Oakdale.

Mrs. Lucas was a charter member of the former Northwest Assembly of God in Salida. She left a great legacy to her family of love and Christian faith.

She enjoyed family gatherings, her quilting group at church, and the Giants baseball team. She was respected and loved by many.

The family thanks the entire staff, nurses, and CNAs at OVCC for the concern and love shown to her and the family.

She is survived by her children, Yulonda ‘Joni’ (Jim) Adams of Oakdale, Mack Lucas of Yuba City, Lottie (George) Cryer of Tacoma, Wash., Don (PJ) Lucas of Modesto, Jack (Pat) Lucas of Waterford; sister, Louise Baldwin of Ringold, Okla.; son-in-law, Don Maddox; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends in California and Washington.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Otto Lucas; daughter, Mary Maddox; brothers, Hobart, James, Mora Perrin; sisters, Alene Waters, Marge Johnson; daughter-in-law, Shiziko Lucas; and great-granddaughter, Jennifer Cryer.

A celebration of life service was held April 7 at Salas Brothers Funeral Home, Modesto. Interment was at Lakewood Memorial Park, followed by a reception at River Oak Grace Church, Oakdale.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in her memory to OVCC Activities, c/o Patti Taylor, 275 S. Oak Ave., Oakdale, CA 95361; or to the River Oak Grace Community Church Benevolence Fund, 7712 Rodden Road, Oakdale, CA 95361; or to a charity of your choice.
