Roy ‘Doc’ William, 88, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011.
He was born in Amarillo, Texas.
When he was a little boy, his grandfather Samuel Perdue told him that he had hands like a doctor.
From that time on, he was known as Doc. At a young age, he moved with the Perdue family to Oakdale and lived here until his death.
Mr. William was a graduate of Oakdale Joint Union High School, class of 1941. He worked for many years at Seebers’ Drug Store as an accountant for his stepfather and various businesses after Seebers’ retirement.
During his younger years, he was a volunteer fireman, reserve police officer for the town of Oakdale, and drove ambulance for Gordon Jaroch’s Funeral Home.
In later years, he joined the Free Masons and became a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge in Oakdale and Knights Ferry.
He was always true to his family and friends. He will be missed.
He is survived by his sisters, Leila Tinnin-Brooks of Ft. Bridger, Wyoming, Nancy Seeber (Charles) Green of Modesto; good friend, Charlie Ulrich; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Samuel Perdue; mother, Essie-Perdue Seeber; and stepfather, Milton B. Seeber.
