Ronald Washburn, 66, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Oakdale, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Sept. 15.

He was born in Oakdale to Robert and Ethel (Anderson) Washburn. He graduated from Oakdale High School and attended Modesto Jr. College prior to enlisting in the Army, where he served his country with pride. He was an honorable soldier and a proud patriot. He believed in fighting for what is right and was proud to be an American.

He married Sharry (Emmons) on Oct. 10, 1965 and they enjoyed nearly 47 years of marriage.

Mr. Washburn was known as a dedicated hard working man of God who loved with his whole heart. His integrity was unsurpassed, his honesty was unwavering, and his commitment to his family was unparalleled. He wasted no time and was hard at work on his land when he passed.

He was a member of the Elks, and in his earlier years, E Clampus Vitus.

He was an excellent electrician and worked for many years in the electrical industry prior to moving to Dallas.

He and his wife enjoyed boating, especially sailing, writing fiction, baseball games, gardening, playing with his dogs, barbecues, dancing with his wife and daughter. They created many memories as a family by camping, fishing, and just being a family. He loved each of his grandsons dearly and they all admired the man of influence he was in their lives. He was also a Harley rider and most recently an ATV rider. He loved riding with his son and grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Sharry Washburn, of Dallas, Texas; children, Michael Washburn of McMinnville, Texas, Rebecca Masingale of Dallas, Texas; brother, Tim Washburn of Vancouver, Wash.; five grandsons; four nephews; a niece; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service was held Sept. 25 at the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center followed by burial with full military honors at the Willamette National Cemetery.
