Rick Chuck, 53, died Thursday, March 15 of sudden heart failure.

He was born in Santa Clara and lived in Oakdale for 45 years. He graduated from Oakdale High School in 1976.

At age 13, he worked at Oakdale Chevron and worked his way up to eventually become the owner/operator. He worked at the station for 26 years. After selling the station, he began selling real estate for PMZ Realty, where he worked for five years. He also had a handyman business.

Mr. Chuck enjoyed being self-employed and taking care of friends and family. He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles with his friends. He never met a stranger.

He attended Big Valley Grace Church, Modesto.

He is survived by his children, Rickey T. Chuck II, Kristen Leah Chuck; mother, Bernice Chuck; sister, Suzanne Shawnego; nephew, Joseph Shawnego; loving companion, Sheri Nicolls and her extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Chuck; and brother, Ron Chuck.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Interment will be at Burwood Cemetery, 28320 River Road, Escalon. A celebration of life will be at the Gene Bianchi Community Center.
