Paul Peter Buerer, 65, died Friday, Sept. 23 in Tacoma, Wash.
He was born in Oakdale to Albert and Mary Buerer. He was a graduate of Oakdale High School’s class of 1964. He majored in Business Administration and minored in Accounting at CSU Stanislaus. He was the winner of the Wall Street Journal award, and graduated in 1968.
He was married to Gayle (Yowell) Buerer from 1968 to 1978. They had one daughter, Jennifer.
Mr. Buerer served in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1974, and was in the Viet Nam war.
Passing the CPA exam in one try, he worked as a Certified Public Accountant for over 20 years in various accounting firms in California. In the mid 1970s he was a member of the local 20/30 club.
In 2004, he married his longtime girlfriend, Dayna Bonzi.
His many hobbies included photography, art and gun collecting, and classic cars.
He lived the majority of his life in the Central Valley. He and his wife lived the past five years in Sunnyside, Wash.
He is survived by his wife, Dayna Buerer of Sunnyside, Wash; daughter, Jennifer Tinney (Philip Tinney) of Modesto; father, Albert Buerer of Oakdale; sister, Shirley Buerer of Port Coquitlam, Canada and Oakdale; stepchildren, Janna Mossman of Upton and Andy Bonzi of Sunnyside, Wash.; one grandson; four step-granddaughters; and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother Roy Buerer, sister Judy Buerer Homrighausen, and mother Mary Consoli Buerer.
A viewing will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7 at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson. A funeral service and reception will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Sierra Baptist Church, 74 North Lee Ave., Oakdale.
