Mark Steven Godkin, 61, died unexpectedly Monday, March 12 in Modesto.

He was born in Oakland and raised in San Leandro. After graduating from Marina High School he started working for Pacific Telephone.

Mr. Godkin moved to Oakdale where he pursued his love of living in the country, horses, hunting and sports. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling and taking cruises.

He was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca (Jeff) Hill of Windsor, Katie (Kyle) Mostowski of Modesto; parents, James A. and Virginia Godkin of San Leandro; brother, James D. (Vicki) Godkin; sisters, Nancy (Terry) Otton, Carol Raguz of Napa, Sally (Bob) Caldeira of Ripon; four grandchildren; and eight nephews and nieces.

A memorial service was held on March 17 at Grace Lutheran Church.
