George C. ‘Trey’ Jones III, 48, died peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at his home with his son and other family members at his side.
He lived in Mexico, Peru, and the Philippines while growing up. He attended San Ramon Valley High School in Danville where he was a big part of a winning football team. He then attended Cal Poly and eventually returned to the family tradition of cattle ranching.
Mr. Jones was fifth generation in the cattle business and was owner of the JCR Ranch in La Grange for over 25 years.
He had a slow smile and a wonderful sense of humor.
The family thanks his ranch foreman and “Amigo” Bernie Camarillo, longtime friend Sean Dunagan, many neighbors and others who were giving and supportive of him and his family.
He is survived by his son, Tyson; father, George Jones; mother and stepfather, Louise and Ken Cunningham; and brother, Steven.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
