Dr. Leo “Lindy” Morris, DDS, 82, of Riverbank died peacefully on Sunday, April 1 in Modesto.

He was born in Kit Carson, Colo. to Herbert and Alma Morris. He moved to Oakdale when he was six years old. He grew up in Oakdale schools, excelled in sports at Oakdale High School, and was in the OHS graduating class of 1947.

Mr. Morris was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954. Afterward, he attended Stockton Junior College for pre-dental classes.

On Sept. 4, 1955 he married Marjorie Ann Morris. He finished up his pre-dental classes at Fresno State and went on to dental school at UCSF. He graduated in 1961 and started his dental practice in Modesto. He retired in 1994. He and his wife lived in Riverbank for 38 years.

He loved spending time with his family and many friends. He was a passionate fisherman and hunter. He was an avid gardener, and his family and friends always looked forward to the fruits of his labor, including his peaches, tomatoes, almonds, citrus fruits, and avocados. He enjoyed playing golf, and traveling, especially camping in his RV. He was a member of the Potluck Group for 54 years, and a long-time member the Oakdale Golf and Country Club. He was past-President of the Oakdale Dinner Club and Sylvan Union School District Dad’s Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marjorie Morris; sons, Keith (Melissa) of Oakdale, Kevin of Woodbury, Texas; daughter, Karen (William) Wong of Modesto; stepmother, Mary Morris of Oakdale; brothers, Keith Morris, Kenneth Morris, and Gary Morris; stepbrother, Orlo Davis; stepsister, Olive Kupiec; seven grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Melvin Morris; and stepbrother, Harley Davis.

A visitation/viewing will be held at Oakdale Memorial Chapel from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, April 9. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10 at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Oakdale. Burial will follow at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery.
