Donald Roger Harper has passed away at the age of 82. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Josephine Harper, and his brother Melvin Harper. His memory endures in hearts and minds of his whole family and friends: his wife of 61 years, Margaret, his sons Mike (Monica) Harper, Matt (Sandy) Harper, Mark (Donna) Harper, and Malcolm (Tina) Harper as well as his siblings Lena Greene, William Eugene Harper, Paula Webb, Janice Calhoun, and Larry Harper.
Don was the strong roots of a large family tree that included his grandchildren: Jill (Shay) Signorelli, Kristin (Robert) Daniel, Jamie (Tim) Burns, Kim Harper (affianced Derek Davenport), Jason Harper, Megan (TJ) Presson, Nikki Lee, Jackie (Jared) Peterson, Taylor (Ernie) Hinojosa, Davis Harper, and Emma Harper – not to mention 11 great grandchildren.
Graduate of Oakdale High, veteran of the US Navy and retired from Paul Oil Co. Active member of the Oakdale Family Church of the Nazarene, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and travel. Don enjoyed family BBQs where he would preside over the tri tip and the onion rings. He was always the first (and sometimes the second, as well!) to get into the homemade ice cream.
Celebration of Life to be held on Friday, January 26 at 10 a.m. at Oakdale Family Church of the Nazarene, 1700 West F St., Oakdale, CA 95361. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oakdale Family Church or charity of choice.
