Betty Louise Ray Walling, 83, died Friday, Nov. 25 in Modesto.
She was born in Somerton, Ariz. to Eugene and Johnnie Ray. She was raised in Bard, the 13th out of 14 kids. She was a resident of Oakdale for more than 20 years.
Mrs. Walling’s hobbies included collecting pictures of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and working on crossword puzzles. She loved her family deeply and knew every relative’s birthday by heart. She is honored as a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be missed.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Carl Walling of Oakdale; children, Edward “Pete” (Beverly) Walling, Carlene (William) Pailthorpe; brothers, Sam (Dorothy) Ray of Brawley, Roger (Virginia) Ray of Midlothian, Texas; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends and family are invited to the visitation on Thursday, Dec. 1 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Oakdale-Riverbank Memorial Chapel, 830 West F St., Oakdale. Services will be held on at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, also at the chapel.
