Alice Blanch Sherrick, 97, died peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 13 in Fresno.
She was born in Wetumka, Okla. to Lloyd and Annie Alkire. She came to California in the 1920s and resided in Oakdale for over 60 years.
She was married to Edward ‘Ned’ Sherrick for 71 years, prior to his death in 2004.
Mrs. Sherrick was a member of the Oakdale Methodist Church since the 1940s. She worked in Oakdale at the Magnolia Avenue school cafeteria for many years. She enjoyed writing poetry, gardening, sewing, and family gatherings.
She is survived by her son, Edward Charles Sherrick of Modesto; daughter, Sharon (Harlen) Rippetoe of Madera; sister, Ann Mathies of Oakdale; 10 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward ‘Ned;’ son, David; daughter in-law, Frances Sherrick; and siblings, Bess Butts, Bonnie Ikerd, Enid Cunningham, Kate Phelps, Jess Alkire, and Henry White.
Services were held at the Oakdale United Methodist Church, with internment in the Oaklawn Cemetery.
