Adolphe ‘Doc’ Garcia, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 7.

He was born one of 13 children to Pablo and Micaela Garcia.

He was a long time resident of Oakdale, and everyone who knew him adored his fun-loving personality.

He was a hard working man who put in many hours at Hunt’s cannery in Oakdale, as well as serving on the Oakdale Police force. In 1991, he retired from a management position from Hunt’s.

Mr. Garcia worked hard to take care of his family, but he also liked to have fun. He spent his free time fishing, tinkering with his inventions, dancing to country music, and hanging with his wife. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time playing with his grandkids and making sure they all grew up to be wonderful people.

He was an incredible man and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was loved and will be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley ‘Babe’ Garcia; children, Larry A. Garcia and Charlotte Garcia-Sharp; four siblings; six grandchildren, Larimie Garcia, Jasmine Sharp, Mathias Garcia, Raven Sharp, Cambry Garcia, Ashley Garcia; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, former Mayor of Oakdale Elmo Garcia, other siblings; and his parents, Pablo and Micaela Garcia.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow the service.
