What an exciting week for our 6th graders from Valley Home School. They left for Science Camp on Monday and will return this Friday. This week of outdoor education is a learning experience much appreciated by these students. The 6th grade class would like to say a big THANK YOU to our PTC for making this trip possible!

We all wish longtime Valley Home resident Marcel Dickens a very Happy Birthday! Many happy returns to you, Marcel!

A reminder to all…This Saturday September 28th at 7:30 a.m. is our BIG yard sale at the Park.  100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Park for necessary maintenance. If anyone would like to donate, there is still time. Please call Sharon Furtado at 969-4212 and she will be glad to pick up. Thank you Sharon for all your hard work! We would also like to acknowledge all the folks in years past who worked tirelessly to make our Valley Home Park a reality. We are so grateful to each one of you.

Remember to mark your calendars for October 26th. It will be here before we know it. Valley Home School PTC presents its Fall Harvest Festival. Exciting new games, exhibits and even a Haunted Cemetery will be awaiting those brave enough to attend. The fun happenings start at 5 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.

It’s almost time for our Valley Home MAC meeting. We hope everyone will plan to attend. These meetings are full of information on things going on that affect us here in Valley Home. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday October 16th at 6:30 p.m. If the weather is good, we will plan to meet at the Community Park. If we’re not able to meet there, we will be across the street at the VH School library.

Also celebrating a September birthday is Kate Hart. Valley Home wishes you many happy returns of the day, Kate!

Melissa Koppinger is enjoying her time playing golf for Oakdale High this season while twin sister, Melinda, is busy getting everything in order for scholarships for a great future softball career. The entire Koppinger family including brothers Michael and Kevin are getting super excited awaiting the arrival of sister Brittany’s baby boy, who is due very soon.

Special thanks to Amanda Kerns and her crew for all their help at the Valley Home Park.

We end our column this week with our deepest sympathy to our Knights Ferry friend Denise Crom on the devastating loss of her husband and best friend, Tom. Together the two of them owned and operated “The Barn” in Escalon. We’re sure many of you will remember those beautiful fresh Christmas trees that Tom sold us at Christmastime. Valley Home will miss our Knights Ferry friend.
