At the May PTC meeting, officers were elected for the 2012-2013 school year. Treasurer: Michelle McKenzie, Secretary Darci Tienken, Vice President: Katharine Sinclair and Sheri Rathbun will resume the duties for another term as President. Congratulations to all!

Also an announcement was made of the Oakdale High School recipients of the Valley Home PTC scholarship awarded to eighth grade graduates of Valley Home School. They are: McKenzie Willett and Maria Loza. A one-time special Community Service Scholarship was also offered to Mary Beth Carpenter. Congratulations to all three, we are proud of your efforts!

Under new business, a committee was formed to create shaded seating areas at both school campuses for student use.

Bob Yuskaitis has invited interested persons to a meeting of the Neighborhood Watch Patrol this evening at 7:30 p.m. at 10012 Pioneer Ave (south side of Highway 120). The meeting will be held in the big brown building at the corner of Pioneer and Mission avenues. Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson and others will be there to pass along important information in regards to the security of our local neighborhoods and how we residents can help can help make and keep it stronger. If you can, it will be worth your time to attend this meeting.

Cody Bartholomew celebrated his 11th birthday this past week with a trip to Funworks. He and his family had a great time making wonderful memories! Also celebrating a birthday this week was Jordan Mc Cain. Jordan is getting ready to run for President of Valley Home 4-H. Most of you probably have seen Jordan riding around in his awesome yellow Scout! Happy Birthday to both Cody and Jordan! Also celebrating a birthday in May is our very own Claire Taro. We all wish Claire a very happy and special day. Don Taro has been busy with dad Tony, tending to their spring garden! Hope they will share all the bounty with us!

Neighbor and Valley Home friend Barb Dooley Quillen just returned home from a wonderful refreshing trip to Pleasant Grove.  She said it was relaxing and very much fun!

The boys of summer, Wyatt Wucherer and Tyler Barretto are enjoying their baseball games. Have fun Wyatt and Tyler, you are doing a great job! Sierra Haynes has been a busy girl getting her goats ready for fair. Also getting ready for fair are Justina and Marissa Hicks, who are both taking lambs to the Stanislaus county fair!

Colton and Caden Farquer continue to make Valley Home proud! Both Colton and Caden have done very well this year on the high school rodeo circuit, with Colton winning all-around cowboy honors and Caden winning rookie of the year! Great job Farquer boys!

Amanda Monschein looked beautiful on Prom night. Amanda looked like a princess and her date was a very handsome Chris Lape.

The Valley Home News staff has received a disturbing piece of news. It may not be disturbing to readers but it is to us. It is in regards to a piece of news that was reportedly sent to us for inclusion in the Valley Home News and was not included. This is so ridiculous that it could be labeled funny but it is not. This reporter has been begging for Valley Home News for this column for over 35 years and has spent over 1800 Sunday evenings writing the VHN for the enjoyment of our readers.
