Hi all; I hope you are all surviving this heat. Oh my goodness gracious, so hot ... hot ... hot! Hopefully it will get better soon. I know some of you reading this are in other towns and even other states; I appreciate your calls letting me know how much you enjoy hearing about the things going on in your hometown, especially those of you who have such fond memories growing up in Valley Home! I love to hear from you. Hopefully it’s not too hot in the different places where you are each living.

This week we can share news that will make each one of you proud, no matter if you live here or hundreds of miles away. Your Oakdale High School Mustangs had an amazing week. Playing against longtime football rival Sonora High School this past week and also the game being away meant the highway between Oakdale and Sonora was crowded with vehicles filled with tremendous Mustang Spirit! Painted messages, banners, posters; an amazing amount of Mustang pride was definitely evident as enthusiastic fans headed up the hill! Here are the exciting scores of your Oakdale Mustangs: Freshmen Oakdale 32, Sonora 0; JV Oakdale 40, Sonora 0; Varsity Oakdale 27, Sonora 21.

Wow, tremendous scores; our players are amazing, they practice hard and they play hard. “Intense” is the word that comes to my mind. Our Mustangs are in a league all of their own. Congratulations to all three teams, your hard work paid off big. Aptos this week at home. Go Mustangs!

This past Saturday our Oakdale Enrichment Society was at it again, making great things happen in our community! Along with huge support from our community they once again held their annual “Free For All” clothing distribution. This amazing event features beautiful gently used clothing free to absolutely anyone who would like to come and take home some very cool clothing. Volunteers sort thru the clothing after it is dropped off at the event center, getting it ready for all. It is an amazing event that has become very important to many and is eagerly awaited each year. We send our deepest appreciation to our Oakdale Enrichment Society ... thank you for your hard work!

We have exciting news for those of you who love to preserve your garden bounty. After a lifetime of learning our very own Gypsy Cowgirl Bambi Porter will be hosting a wonderful new TV show, “Preserving America.” She will share great information and will teach the skills of preserving our summer gardens. More details to come very soon!

We would also like to send a huge “Thank You” to Bambi and her amazing husband Les, to Synthia, and all the crew that stepped up to run the cook shack at the Jr. Rodeo this past weekend. You are very much appreciated by a whole lot of young cowboys and cowgirls and by all who enjoyed your delicious food!
