Valley Home News 2-26-20

After holding informational public meetings tonight, Wednesday February 26th, our Valley Home MAC will be voting on changes to the current bylaws! For the past several months our MAC has been working with only three members, due to two members moving. Since our board is elected, we would have to have a special election, costing hundreds of dollars or wait for a regular election. There are folks in our community willing to serve on the MAC now, but cannot unless we do a special election or they are appointed. Also there is a short window for appointment, and it has long passed. The Valley Home MAC is requesting to become an appointed board, thus saving our tax dollars and ensuring a full board! The MAC board is advisory only, the county makes the decisions on all issues. The county supports the MAC with all needed information and is always available to answer questions. The MAC council advises the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors on matters of public health, welfare, safety, planning, public works, and other such matters as needed including concerns within the community. Tonight’s meeting will be held at 6:30pm at our Valley Home School Gym. All are welcome and encouraged to attend! The county has received two applications from Valley Home residents for the two vacant board positions, if you are interested in serving on the MAC, please call Stanislaus County Supervisor Olsen’s office. Regular meetings are held January 8th, April 8th, July 8th, and October 14th, of 2020.

Julie Beth Lamb of Valley Home 4-H received recognition for 15 years of service to 4-H. It was a wonderful evening, we are thankful for all who serve as 4-H leaders for our youth!
