A Wednesday evening break-in landed two teens in Juvenile Hall, taken into custody by Oakdale Police.

On Wednesday, April 29 at around 7:30 p.m., Oakdale Police responded to a suspected burglary in progress at Oakdale Junior High School at 400 S. Maag Ave., Oakdale. Upon arrival, officers were advised an employee saw two suspects fleeing the area. The employee relayed information through the OPD Communications Center to officers on scene that there were two juveniles with backpacks running from the school towards Cottles Woods Park.

Officers set up a perimeter around the entire area and were able to quickly corral the two suspects. It was determined the two 17-year-old males had forced their way into a snack bar on the campus and took several items of property. Stolen property was recovered from the suspects and returned to the school.

The two 17-year-olds were charged with Burglary and Looting during an Emergency, due to their taking advantage of schools being closed, committing the burglary during the current “state of emergency”. Both were booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall.
