Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 4-8-26

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, March 31 through Monday, April 6. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

MONDAY, APRIL 6

The MST Firefighter Academy continued training evolutions (search and techniques)

Battalion 2: Battalion 2 crews completed Monday apparatus inspections.

Battalion 5: 4 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28, Quint 22 and BC5 responded to a potential structure fire on Nicholas Court in Oakdale. Crews arrived on scene and had light smoke showing from the front door. Upon entering they found food that had caught fire on the stove and burned the exhaust fan. Firefighters checked the wall and cabinet above and behind the stove for extension but there was none.

SUNDAY, APRIL 5

Battalion 2: WR24, WR26 conducted Boat Operator training with WR29 in Knights Ferry.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, and conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

WR29 along with WR24, and WR26 participated in Swift Water Boat training on the Stanislaus River above the Covered Bridge taking advantage of the high river flows. The training focused on victim picks and shore-based rescues.

Engine 29 and Battalion 5 responded to assist Cal Fire TCU for a vehicle roll over on Highway 108 East of Tulloch Road. Crews arrived on scene to a single vehicle roll over and provided patient care on one patient on scene.

5 p.m. – WR26, WR28, Engine 7 and Battalion 5 responded to Jacob Myers Park in Riverbank for the report of a water rescue. Crews arrived on scene and investigated with different reports. WR26 located a total of six victims, all out of the water, and everyone accounted for with no medical need.

SATURDAY, APRIL 4

Battalion 2: Crews conducted company-level training operations.

Station 23 and Station 26 conducted Water Rescue and Boat Operator training.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, and conducted apparatus checks and Saturday station maintenance

Crews trained on company officer training, hose stretches and other various subjects for Company Level Drill Day.

The Knights Ferry Community hosted their annual car show and Station 29 utilized the opportunity to talk to the community, hand out helmets to kids and show them around the fire station.

4:30 p.m. – OES4617, OES4618, BC5 along with Cal Fire TCU responded to the report of a vegetation fire on Sonora Road and Frankenheimer Road. BC5 arrived on scene to find a small pile of brush on fire under the bridge. Crews quickly extinguished the fire with no further spread to the surrounding area.

FRIDAY, APRIL 3

Battalion 2: Crews completed weekly checks on the Type III and VI apparatus.

Battalion 5: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Engine 27 and Battalion 5 trained on portable radios.

1:05 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 9 and Battalion 5 to Langworth and Patterson for a vehicle accident. Crews arrived on scene to find two vehicles involved and the roadway blocked. Firefighters found one immediate patient that was pinned in the vehicle. Engine 27 used their extrication tools to quickly remove the driver. The patient was treated and packaged by firefighters and OVHD Medics. The patient was transported to a local hospital with one firefighter on board to assist.

THURSDAY, APRIL 2

The MST academy trained in swift water rescue operations in Knights Ferry.

Battalion 2: Crews completed yard and station maintenance.

Online training assignments in Vector Solutions were completed.

Battalion 5: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Engine 29 assisted the new hire academy with boat operations.

Engine 9 performed a pre-fire walk through of Dutch Hollow Farms.

8:25 a.m. – Engine 27, Engine 23 and Battalion 5 to Albers and Patterson for a vehicle accident. Crews arrived on scene to find two vehicles on the right shoulder. One patient was treated for minor injuries and transported to a local hospital.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1

Battalion 2: 7:59 a.m. – Engine 24 and Battalion 2 attended the Waterford High School Showcase.

Battalion 5: Battalion 5 attended training at Station 17. The topics covered were firefighting tactics and considerations for vacant, abandoned and unoccupied buildings in our fire management areas and the significant risks they pose to firefighters.

TUESDAY, MARCH 31

Battalion 2: Members continued to attend the SCFPD/CalJac sponsored Confined Space class at the RFTC.

Crews worked on apparatus, station and equipment maintenance.

Battalion 5: 4:52 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28, Quint 22 and BC5 responded to a gas leak on Forest Glen Court in Oakdale. Crews arrived to find a maintenance worker, working on an appliance in the home accidentally hit the gas knob. It was secured and all units cleared.
