An Oakdale Police Department motorcycle officer injured on Monday, Feb. 25 is now on the road to recovery.

Police Department Public Information Officer Janeen Yates said information posted on the department’s Facebook page provided the community with the initial information and a later update. There was no formal press release issued by the department regarding the incident.

“The officer is now back home beginning the recovery process from the injuries he sustained in his on-duty motorcycle collision,” Yates confirmed on Tuesday.

The accident, a solo motorcycle crash at West F Street and South First Avenue, occurred Monday morning when the officer – whose name was not released by the department – was on patrol.

Following the crash, he was taken to a local hospital with what officials described as ‘moderate injuries’.

The department update was posted later on in the day when the officer had been released from the hospital.

“We wish him well deserved rest and a full recovery,” the post indicated.
