Condolences go out to Nancy Redden and her family on the death of her father Bob Young. Besides Nancy, his wife Barbara and daughters Susan Daugs and Robin Bearg, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren survive Bob. Services were last Saturday.

At the meeting of the Knights Ferry History and Museum Associates the Peddler’s Faire was discussed. The new toilet in the bathroom was unveiled. More “Walking Tour of Knights Ferry” will be printed as all have been given out to visitors to the Ferry.

Last Wednesday at the 50’s Roadhouse Bill Wearin was the recipient of the “Birthday Song”. Also celebrating a birthday, and the “song” was Janice Muniain Bender. Helping her celebrate were her brother Dick Muniain, and sister Eunice Muniain Gire and brother-in-law Sid Gire from Washington State.

The Knights Ferry Garden Club met for their first meeting of the 2012-2013 year at the home of Ellen Wearin. Plans were made for the baking of the pumpkin rolls. The October meeting will be a week later, October 17 at the clubhouse at noon during the making and baking. Guest at the meeting was Leslie Chitwood. After the meeting Ellen served a lovely lunch.

The Community Garden has been cleaned up for the fall. The school children visit the garden and weed and plant during the school year. There is a workday every Thursday for adults from 10 to noon.

Lee and Mary Sue Shearer enjoyed visiting with grandson Wyatt when mom Lisa brought him down to Patti Sandoval’s home to get a haircut from cousin Joselyn Serrano. Son Jeff Shearer was in Springfield, Missouri judging the PBR.

The Knights Ferry School Site Council has three new members, Kim Cassaretto, Corrine Anderson and Jolene O’Neil. That was announced at the School Board meeting. Also at the meeting Superintendent Griffith told of the focus on playground safety by the insurers, so the yard duty personnel got walkie-talkies, eliminating the running to the office by a student if something happens.

Michel Griesner has been celebrating her birthday for many days. Children Lisa Lewis and Traci Griesner hired a limo and took Michel and friends to San Francisco where they had dinner at Scoma’s. Carol Davis hosted a birthday dinner for Michel and Gordon took her to Monterey where they stayed at the Spindrift and toured the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Sunday Michel went to see what the dog was barking at and it was a porcupine! The dog did not get near it thank goodness. There has not been a porcupine around for years.
