ems

Authorities have identified all three people that died as a result of a Wednesday night, Aug. 28 two-car crash along the Oakdale-Waterford Highway, south of Milnes Road.

Killed in the crash were Jorge Flores Jimenez, 21, of Oakdale; as well as Luis Alberto Amezcus, 29, from Snelling; and Maria Hernandez De Garcia, 60, from Parlier.

Modesto CHP officers responded to the scene shortly before 10 p.m., after receiving a report of an injury accident.

Officers indicated that Jimenez was southbound on the Oakdale-Waterford Highway in a 2010 Chevy Camaro, south of Milnes Road, while Amezcus and De Garcia were in a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, traveling northbound on the highway. Amezcus was identified as the driver of the Volkswagen while De Garcia was a passenger in the vehicle.

For an unknown reason, Jimenez’s vehicle veered into the northbound lane and struck the oncoming vehicle head on, which caused the Jetta to overturn and come to rest on the east shoulder of the highway on its right side. The Camaro came to rest in the northbound lane, facing east.

The CHP report said all three people were declared dead at the scene of the crash.

Oakdale-Waterford Highway was closed until approximately 2 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 for the investigation and traffic was detoured around the area during that time.
