For now, there are no new planned budget cuts for the Oakdale Joint Unified School District. Following a public hearing at the June 13 regular meeting of the OJUSD Board of Trustees, the board unanimously approved the 2011-2012 proposed budget.

While the budget presented doesn’t reflect the state budget in its final form, OJUSD Superintendent Marc Malone said that it appears the district will be funded the same as it was last year. Although, there may be some updating and modification to the budget once the state budget is passed.

“Right now, for us it’s good news, as long as (the state budget) is signed as it was presented in May,” Malone said.

In consent items, it was announced that the new Principal of Cloverland Elementary School will be Larry Bonds, who comes from the Yuba City Unified School District. Bonds’ official start date is July 1.

Announcement of a new vice principal for Oakdale Junior High School is expected to go before the board at the July regular meeting.

The next regular meeting of the OJUSD Board of Trustees will be at 6:30p.m. on Monday, July 11 at the Oakdale City Council Chambers, 277 N. Second.
