A couple of uniquely Oakdale events are on the schedule for this week, welcoming in summer with a flourish.
First up, set for Thursday, June 23, the Oakdale Cowboy Museum at 355 E. F St., downtown, will be offering a ‘Western Night’ from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with activities designed for the whole family.
There will be music, food, dummy roping, kids train rides and face painting, along with an ‘Ugly Boot’ contest. Also planned is a Dutch oven cooking demonstration, with all events situated around the East F Street museum location. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a relaxing evening celebrating Oakdale’s Western heritage.

Later in the day, the Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo Grounds on East F Street will be the focus, as five bands will perform, several food trucks will be on site and the H-B Saloon will be running the bar. Gates at the Rodeo Grounds will open at 4:30 p.m. and the first of the bands will take to the stage at 5 p.m.
Admission is $25 per person in advance and, if available, $35 at the gate.

Capping off the festive All American Bash pre-July 4 holiday event for the community will be a fireworks display at the Rodeo Grounds following the final concert; the fireworks show is included with the price of admission.
