More than two dozen people met at Dorada Park in Oakdale on a recent afternoon, with their dogs dressed up in costume, joining in to make the group walk to Last Call Brewery. The festivities were part of a special Barktober event for local residents and their faithful four-legged companions.

Along with those that made the walk from the park, others chose to head straight to the brewery to meet the walking group and also brought their dressed up furry friends.

Everyone enjoyed looking at all the unique costumes while eating from the East Meats West food truck and could also enjoy the variety of craft brews available inside.

The walk was free but there was a donation jar set out as Barktober as hosted as a fundraiser for the new Oakdale dog park currently under construction. The jar slowly filled up as the evening progressed. Donations are still being accepted to go towards finishing the park next to the Oakdale Junior High School campus. For information about donating or becoming a sponsor for the park, contact the co-chairs for the project, Michelle Thomasser at 209-914-6166 or Jennifer Stasio at 408-444-1131.
