Action at Folsom High School on Saturday, Nov. 15 in the Sac-Joaquin Section cross country finals saw both the Oakdale varsity boys and varsity girls running a 5k race.

The Mustang varsity boys qualified as a team to the state meet later this month, while sophomore Addison Wylie of the varsity girls team qualified as an individual.

The varsity girls finished in fifth place overall as a team. Individual results: Sophomore Addison Wylie, 11th overall, 19:32; junior Taylor Reams, 19th, 20:18; freshman Tenley Wylie, 22nd, 20:38; senior Bradie Evans, 31st, 21:24; senior Jordan Wylie, 54th, 22:49; and junior Kylie Fast, 73rd, 26:08.

With her 11th place showing, Wylie qualified to the California State Championships for the second year in a row.

The varsity boys took third place honors overall and the team qualified for the California State Championships for the fifth year in a row.

Individual results: Senior Sean Muturi, 10th, 16:25; junior Weston McGhee, 12th, 16:35; junior Quinn Baca, 23rd, 17:26; senior Mitchell Benning, 24th, 17:28; sophomore Roman Moreno, 34th, 17:45; sophomore Trevor Powell, 44th, 18:00; and freshman Aden Cavanaugh, 53rd, 18:30.

“Mixed emotions; excited for Addison and the boys team qualifying for the California State Championships, but we thought the girls team had a good shot and it just did not happen,” said head coach Guy Fowler. “That’s running, you have good days and not so good days. These kids began training for this season in May, they have put in a lot of hard work. There were many teams that did not even make the section finals and we did, very proud of everyone.”

The State Meet will be hosted on Saturday, Nov. 29 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
