With over 165 runners and walkers registered, most turned out to hit the streets on Saturday morning, Feb. 7 in Oakdale. The 34th annual Don Osborne Memorial Run was hosted by the Oakdale Lions Club. There were 60 finishers in the one-mile event, 82 total runners crossing the finish line in the 5k.
Aden Cavanaugh, 14, took first place in the one-mile at 5:02 and the 5k, at 17:36, the first male and first overall finisher in each event. First female runners across the line were Becky Lee, 41, in the one-mile with a time of 5:59 and Nancy Eubanks, 48, in the 5k, running the course in 20:41.
The one mile took off at 9 a.m., leaving from behind the Oakdale library on G Street, with the 5k starting a short time later.
Many runners entered both events. There were medals for top finishers in the various age divisions.
The Anderson family, including mom Jennifer and children Drake, 9; Bodee 11; and Charlotte, 13, of Oakdale turned out to run together, while Fair Oaks Elementary Principal Talmage Allen ran both races, finishing eighth in the one-mile and coming in 12th overall in the 5k.
