Scrimmages Start Campaigns For Mustang Spring Squads

As the spring 2019 season approaches, Oakdale High School teams returned to action. Multiple sports had scrimmages this past week to gear up for the upcoming season.

The tennis boys hit the court on the road against Ceres on Tuesday, Feb. 19 in their lone scrimmage of the season. The boys will focus on practice this week before they jump into their Valley Oak League season on Tuesday, March 5 at East Union. Oakdale will host Kimball on Thursday, March 7 in their home opener in 2019. All tennis matches are scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Oakdale softball took to the diamond twice this past week in a pair of scrimmage games. They traveled to Modesto on Friday, Feb. 15 and hosted Enochs on Wednesday, Feb. 20. The Lady Mustangs opened non-conference play on Tuesday, Feb. 26 when they hosted Elk Grove. The game was held following The Leader’s press time. Their busy season continues when they travel to Modesto on Wednesday, Feb. 27 for a road game at Gregori with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m., and then on Thursday, March 7 they will start a weekend tournament at Elk Grove.

The golf boys returned to the greens in a pair of scrimmages this past week. They opened up their regular season on Monday, Feb. 25 at Oakdale Golf and Country Club when they welcomed all six Valley Oak League teams to town. The 18-hole tournament took place following The Leader’s press time. Oakdale returns to action on Monday, March 4 when they travel to Tracy for their second 18-hole Valley Oak League tournament of the season. Tee time is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Track and Field will hold their only scrimmage of the season when they welcome Escalon to town, scheduled for Feb. 27 and then will participate in the County Meet in Turlock on Friday, March 8 before hosting Central Catholic in their first Valley Oak League meet of the season on Thursday, March 14 at 3 p.m.
