Over 350 Swimmers Gather For OHS Meet

On Saturday, March 9 Oakdale hosted their annual March Madness swim meet. Over a dozen schools and 350 swimmers competed inside the Oakdale High School Aquatic Center. Oakdale had many swimmer place in the top five of numerous events.

Two of the girls 200 yard medley relay teams earned first and third place. The team of Bre Campbell, Hannah Lee, Ashlynn See and Jensen Perry took first place with a time of 1:57.83. Taking third in the event were Kayla Peterson, Marissa Raggio, Haley Rivera and Kassidy Houck at a time of 2:01.64.

In the same event, the boys shined and took second place. Ethan Perry, Stash Perry, Aron Cameron and David Terwilliger finished in 1:48.47, less than a second off the first place finishers from St. Mary’s.

Stash Perry placed first in the boys 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.80. Houck took fourth place in the 200 yard freestyle event with a time of 2:12.0.4. In the girls 200 yard IM event Peterson placed second overall with a time of 2:23.42. Right behind her was teammate Rivera who finished third at 2:23.42.  In the girls 50 yard freestyle event, See placed fourth at 26.00 and Perry, 26.22, finished in fifth.

Ethan Perry placed first in the boys 50 yard freestyle event with a time of 23.37.

Oakdale had two top five finishers in the girls 100 yard butterfly event. Rivera placed third in the event at 1:05.46 and Peterson came in fourth at 1:07.28. For the boys it was Kyle McIntosh taking fifth in the same event at 1:05.83.

Campbell placed fifth in the girls 100 yard freestyle event at 58.78. The Perry brothers dominated the boys 100 yard freestyle event. Ethan Perry took first place in the event at 51.17 and Stash placed second in the event at 52.01.

Others who had impressive days were Lucas Hardy, Nessa DeLeon, Logan Nord, Tyler Gross, Alyssa Costano, Lorenzo Klose and Morgan Dietrich.

This Friday, March 15, Oakdale travels to take on Sierra at 3:30 p.m.
