Oakdale Runs Past Central Catholic In VOL Meet

Thursday, March 14 was the regular season opener for the Oakdale High School track and field team. In the Valley Oak League opener the Mustangs hosted Central Catholic. Both Oakdale teams were successful as the varsity girls won 107-24 and the varsity boys won 88-37.

Emma Harper continues to have early success this season. Coming off her first place finishes in both the discus and shot put in the County Meet earlier this month, Harper placed first in both events against Central Catholic. Her throw was 128 feet and four inches in the discus and she powered her way to a throw of 36.8 feet in the shot put. Valerie Osborne took second in each event.

Paris Thompson had a big day for Oakdale. She placed first in both the 200 and 400 meter races. She completed the 200 in 28.51 and the 400 in 1:05.08. Kayden Legan took first in three events as she won the 800 meter, 1600 meter and the 3200 meter races. She finished the 800 meter race in 2:27; the 1600 in 5:21 and the 3200 meter race at 11:59. Carley Maaske took first in the 100 meter race at 13.19. Maaske also took first in the long jump and the triple jump and was also a part of the first place 4x100 team. Along with Kayci Morris, Madison Carter and Paris Thompson the foursome won the relay.

Tayler Lamb finished first in the high jump at four feet, six inches and Kyndall Green placed first in pole vault as she cleared ten feet. Alyssa Stott took first in the 300 meter hurdles.

For the boys A.J. Martinez took first place in the 110 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles and helped the team’s 4x100 relay team take first place as well. Martinez, Zeke Saffar, Cameron Burke and John Foreman were the team’s representatives for the 4x100 relay team. Saffar also took first place in the long jump at 19 feet, 11 inches. Jaiden Williams took first in the triple jump and high jump.

Saffar placed first in the 100 meter and 200 meter races. Burke placed first in the 400 meter race. Grayson Paulus cleared 13 feet for first place in the pole vault.

Ben Chappell took first place in the discus at 145 feet, four inches. Riley Miller took first in shot put at 40 feet even.

This Wednesday, March 20 Oakdale will travel to Tracy take on Kimball. The meet is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Friday, March 22 Oakdale will host the County Clash at 3 p.m.
