Oakdale Golfers Finding Early Success

The Oakdale High School boy’s golf team is off to a 2-0 start. On Monday, March 4 the team headed to Tracy Golf and Country Club for the Valley Oak League (VOL) #2 Tournament. In the 18 hole league tournament Oakdale’s scorecard said 412 for a first place finish. Sophomore Ryan Meyer shot a tournament low 69 to help power the Mustangs to their second straight league tournament victory. Senior Calvin Reed shot a three over on the par 72 with a score of 75. Newcomer freshman Ryan Wheatley posted an 85 on the day. Senior Tristan Jaramillo finished at 85. A pair of freshmen closed out the day for Oakdale as Grant Weber (92) and Rocky Richardson (100) also competed in the tournament.

East Union placed second on the day at 491. Central Catholic placed third with a score of 510, Sierra came in fourth at 545 and Weston Ranch placed sixth at 637. Host Kimball and Manteca did not finish.

Monday morning, March 11 the boys head to Patterson to take part in the Yellowjacket Invitational. This 18 hole tournament will take place at Diablo Grande and will feature schools outside of the Valley Oak League.
