Eddie Machado intercepted the first Weston Ranch pass of the second half, and played terrific from the helm to lead Oakdale’s junior varsity football team to a 24-0 shutout over Weston Ranch on Friday.

Machado dished the ball to a barrage of successful runners, and watched Nick Ryan (two-point conversion), Josh Watts (two-point conversion) and Jordan Miller all run for big touchdowns in a game that saw Oakdale leading 16-0 at the half.

“One thing we have done this year is progress little by little, week by week, and it is starting to show,” Oakdale coach Ben Cortes said. “Running is our bread and butter, and that was pounded into me when I played Oakdale football. These kids have bought into the fact that we are a run-first program.”

Oakdale moves to 5-0 in league play, and squares off at Manteca on Friday.
