The Oakdale Stampede youth football and cheer program went 2-1 in three recorded contests at home on Saturday. The Rookies, competing with no tallied scores, delivered a dominant performance from the youngest division with all players rotating in. Brayden Abell, Javyn Drobnick, Jayden Powers and a few others managed big rushes up the field in the wake of Christopher Kjeldgaard and an impressive offensive line. The Pee Wee team suffered a hard-fought 26-6 loss, but managed their first touchdown of the season.Oakdale’s JV, the only team to win last week, managed another big ‘W’ after a huge defensive effort from Gregory Hickman and Co. On offense Erik Jackson, Zac Cordoza, Josh Ryan, Kiser Vandeever, and Hunter Lacross dominated the line of scrimmage. Darus Nelson ran behind this group to score all three Stampede touchdowns. The Stampede varsity saw their first win of the season in 30-12 fashion. This one started off right with Christian Johnson taking the opening kickoff back all the way for a quick six points. Frankie Trent, Kevin Corral, and Brock Whiting ran the ball behind an impressive front line while the Oakdale defense did a nice job of keeping the Jaguars off balance all night by swarming to the ball. All four teams travel to Livingston High on Saturday to face off against the Livingston Wolves in successive games at 1:30, 3, 5 and 7 p.m.
