Final Stretch Upcoming For Mustang Season Two Sports

As we enter the final weeks of the school year, we are also rapidly approaching the end of the high school sports calendar. Season two has been filled with action and here is a glance at how several of the Mustang squads fared this past week.

 

BOYS BASKETBALL

Oakdale suffered a trio of losses this past week. On May 6 the boys fell to Ripon 68-55; lost to Ripon again May 7 on the road 61-50 and on Saturday the boys fell to Central Catholic in heartbreaking 36-31 fashion. Johnathan Kraude led the team with 11 points against the Raiders. Jonah Norman led the team with nine rebounds. Seniors that were honored Saturday night were Logan Richardson, Daniel Carlos, Izayah Garcia-Perez, Tanner Cusano and Jonah Norman. Oakdale wraps up their season this week as they play a pair of games against Escalon (away Thursday night, home Friday night). Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

The girls defeated Ripon at home on Friday, May 7 by a 53-31 final. Alicia Platt had 16 points and Aidyn Hill scored 14 points. Saturday, May 8 the girls escaped with a 58-55 home win over Central Catholic in overtime. A 19-point effort from Platt helped lead the team to a Senior Day victory. Afton Daley added 18 points for Oakdale. Seniors honored that night were Alexia Martin, Amber Robinson, Alicia Platt, Maddy Jones, Savannah Borba, Krista Andersen, Taylor Lamb, Afton Daley and Jadyn Rau. Oakdale’s season comes to a close this week as they travel to Escalon on Thursday night and travel to Modesto to face Central Catholic on Saturday afternoon.

 

WRESTLING

A scrimmage against Ripon took place this past week; Oakdale won 18 of the 19 matches wrestled.

 

BOYS GOLF

In their lone match of the week Oakdale turned in 228 performance against East Union; which did not record a score. The match took place at Manteca Park Golf Course where Ryan Meyer went two under par 34. Grant Weber (45), Conor McCluney (49) and Carson Middaugh (50) rounded out the day for Oakdale.

 

GIRLS TENNIS

Oakdale competed in two matches this past week. The Mustangs defeated Sierra 6-3 on Monday, May 3 but suffered its first loss on Wednesday, May 5 to Central Catholic 3-6. Oakdale returns to action on Thursday, May 13 at Manteca. The contest is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

The Lady Mustangs won both of their matches this past week as they blanked both Weston Ranch and Escalon. On May 3 the girls defeated Weston Ranch 8-0 and then earned a 6-0 win over Escalon. On Wednesday, May 12 the team is scheduled to host Kimball at 3:30 p.m. and wrap up the week at Ripon on Friday night.

 

BOYS SOCCER

It was a pair of wins for the Mustangs this past week. Oakdale edged Escalon 4-3 on May 4 and shut out Sierra 1-0 on Thursday May 6. The road win over Escalon came as both Joel Gonzalez and Kaleb McDonald scored two goals each. McDonald also had an assist. Kevin Camelin and Caden Frazee each had an assist. Riley Blount had five saves in the win. Against Sierra, McDonald scored the lone goal of the game on an assist from Frazee in the first half of the contest. Camelin served as goal keeper and had a handful of saves. Thursday, May 13 the boys host Kimball at 5 p.m.
