Oakdale High School student-athlete Ben Chappell competed in the USA Track and Field Hershey National Junior Championships this past week in Sacramento. The soon-to-be senior participated in the Men’s Hammer Throw 17-18 division. Chappell placed sixth overall with a throw average of 56.22 meters. The decorated athlete fouled his first two attempts but threw for 56.15 meters on his third attempt, then he threw for 56.22 meters on his fourth attempt. Chappell then fouled on his fifth and completed his day with a 55.95 meter throw. There were over 30 participants in the competition

Incoming Oakdale High School junior Emma Harper also made the trip to Hornet Stadium in Sacramento to compete in the Girls Discus Throw 15-16 division but did not place in the event.
