Traveling to Woodward Park in Fresno for the Roughrider Invitational on Friday, Oct. 17, the cross country Mustangs turned in some good performances.
There were a total of 344 runners in the varsity boys 5k event and the Mustangs captured second place overall as a team. First across the line for Oakdale was senior Sean Muturi, who was fifth overall in a time of 15:55. He was followed by junior Quinn Baca, 11th, 16:16; junior Weston McGhee, 13th, 16:22; sophomore Roman Moreno, 44th, 17:08; and freshman Aden Cavanaugh, 48th, 17:09.
For the varsity girls, there were a total of 261 runners in the 5k race and Oakdale finished sixth overall.
Leaders were sophomore Addison Wylie, eighth place, 19:01; freshman Tenley Wylie, 22nd, 19:54; junior Taylor Reams, 36th, 20:40; senior Jordan Wylie, 59th, 21:23; and sophomore Kinsley Alves, 84th, 22:06.
“This was a good last tune up meet before we enter the championship part of the season,” said coach Guy Fowler.
The next meet for the Mustangs is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 29, with the VOL Cross Country Championships being staged at Mistlin Park in Ripon.
