Baseball Action Sees Varsity Loss, JV Victory At Sonora

The Oakdale Mustangs varsity baseball team fell to Sonora on Friday, March 15. The non-conference game took place in Sonora and it was the home team earning a 4-2 win.

Sonora scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth and did not look back. Oakdale had four hits in the game as Alex Daoud, Garrett Lee, Austin Meeks and Jacob Solorio each had one hit in the loss. Meeks hit a double for the team’s only extra base hit of the contest. Lee and Solorio each had an RBI. Solorio and Meeks had the team’s two stolen bases.

On the hill Josh Garcia started the game and pitched four innings giving up just one hit but had three earned runs and issued three walks. Hayden Knittel came into the game and pitched two innings giving up one hit and one earned run.

Monday, March 18 the boys hosted Turlock following The Leader’s press time. Oakdale travels to Lodi to take on Tokay, Thursday, March 21 with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.

On Saturday morning, March 23 Oakdale is scheduled to host Escalon at 11 a.m. This will be the team’s final non-conference game before opening Valley Oak League action on Wednesday, March 27 when they travel to take on East Union. All Valley Oak League games are scheduled for 4 p.m.

 

JUNIOR VARSITY

A 19-0 road win over Sonora on Friday night had the JV boys feeling good this weekend. The Mustangs scored four runs in the first inning, two in the second, eight in the third and five more in the fourth. Just like their varsity counterparts, the Oakdale JV boys will travel to Lodi on Thursday, March 21 to take on Tokay and will host Escalon in a Saturday game at 11 a.m.

 

FRESHMEN

Oakdale earned a 9-2 road win over Lincoln of Stockton on Wednesday, March 13. The frosh boys open league play on Tuesday, March 26 against East Union.
