Make Your Voice Heard

Dear Editor,

To the people of Oakdale in regards to the North County Corridor, I understand that at times, traffic is thick through Oakdale. I also understand that of all the businesses that I have talked to, a majority of their business comes from the tourist. The sad part is, as while I was going to the stores of Oakdale they didn’t even know about it and I was shocked. The revenue those shops bring in and the taxes from them makes the City of Oakdale’s budget. So think about it, NO money coming in means they will not have any to go out. To me this would mean more job loss, in an already declining time. So be proud of our town and to the people of Oakdale let your voice be heard. Stand up for the businesses that we have here, don’t let them get passed over. I would give up 5, 10 or however many minutes travel time to SAVE a family’s home, and if you go down the road where this North County Corridor is proposed to be, it affects many houses that have been there all of my life. Ask our leaders of this fine town why they are in support of this. The town’s people of Angels Camp and Sonora are voicing their opinion of how the bypass through their little towns is now devastation, but now it’s too late for them. Don’t let it be too late for Oakdale. The radio station The Cabin (93.5) just did a big interview all about it. If you have any questions pleased attend one or both of the following meetings: Oct. 13, 2009 at the Gene Bianchi Community Center in Oakdale or Oct. 22, 2009 at the Riverbank Community Center in Riverbank. Both times are 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a presentation at 6:30 p.m.
