Vote Yes On Measure H

Dear Editor,

Measure H, which was previously Measure Y, will be showing up on our election ballot this November. It proposes citizens continue to pay a half-cent sales tax, which we are currently already paying to help fund necessary city enhancements and improvements. Making up 17 percent of our city budget, the funds collected from this tax continues to support our police and fire departments as well as helps fund our senior center and other essential city needs. Without this extra sales tax, our city will eventually lose up to six police officers, four firefighters, and essential city maintenance support such as street sweeping and lighting. Our city depends on these things to help keep us safe and comfortable, and the loss of these necessary funds will undoubtedly create a negative effect on our city. Come November, I will be voting yes on Measure H, to continue the financial support our city needs ensure the safety, quality of life and the peace of mind for the families of our community. I hope you will be voting YES on Measure H too!

Seeking Voter Support

Dear Editor,

I am asking family, friends, neighbors and all residents of Oakdale to please vote YES on “Measure H” in November. Oakdale residents/voters, passed a ballot measure (Measure Y) which merely extended the sales tax for a few more years! Once again, we are asking for that tax to be extended. Measure H is NOT an additional tax.

The funds collected from Measure H, will continue to keep our Police and Fire Departments fully staffed and well equipped. It also provides funds for the senior center, street sweeping and lighting our city streets. The residents of Oakdale depend on these things to keep us safe.

I’m a volunteer in the community (CAPS-Senior Outreach) and see the importance of Measure H, first hand. The seniors we visit need to be kept active to live in their homes. The senior center provides all kinds of activities and meals for so many. Many seniors can be seen walking or riding their scooters to get to the store, doctor appointments, to visit someone. The lighting of the streets is very important, especially when the time changes and it gets dark earlier. For me, it’s a clean street! We need the street sweeper so our city streets stay clean!

It is imperative that the voters of Oakdale vote YES on Measure H, come November. I am!
