Virgil James Haeger, 73, died Sunday, June 27 at the V.A. Hospital hospice center in Tucson, AZ.He was born in Reardan, WA to Elizabeth and Ezra Haeger.Mr. Haeger served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1965.He was a very creative child and it extended through his adult life. He repaired, designed and developed machinery and other items. In 1979, after inventing, developing and proving his product, “The Haeger Press,” he started a company called Haeger Products in Milpitas. The company’s name was changed to High Quality Engineering and then to Haeger, Incorporated, as it is still known today. Presently, Haeger, Inc. is located in Oakdale and is a subsidiary of the Phillips Corporation.He is survived by his wife, Janet of Green Valley, AZ; daughter, Lila Haeger Meyers; grandson, Joshua Michael Meyers, both of Fresno; and nephew, Bob Christensen of Cheboygan, MI.No memorial service at this time.The Oakdale (Calif.)
