Bud Urban, the youngest of five children, was born on February 18, 1921 in Ankeny, Iowa to Mary and Anthony Urban. He died peacefully on June 7, 2023 at the age of 102. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Florence (White), who passed away in February 2009. They were married for 67 years.

Bud is survived by his three children, Ed Urban, Judy Vanderford and Nancy Smith (Kirby), four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren (plus one on the way) and many nieces and nephews. Family was always Bud’s first priority.

Soon after Bud and Florence were married in 1942, Bud joined the war effort in Naval Intelligence, stationed in the South Pacific. After being wounded in the war and recuperating in Seattle, Bud, Florence and Ed moved to San Francisco to be near Florence’s family. They raised Ed, Judy and Nancy in the Bay Area. Bud spent most of his career in the food industry. In the 1960’s, he and Florence started their own, very successful, food brokerage company. Their success allowed them to retire early and enjoy their love of golf.

Bud and Florence moved to Oakdale in 1995, after initially retiring to Pine Mountain Lake. Ed, Judy and Nancy soon followed them and made Oakdale their new home town.

If you had the pleasure to meet Bud, you knew him to be kind, respectful and have a great sense of humor. He will be missed.
