Stephen Paul ‘Steve’ Shuler, 62, died on Saturday, Aug. 28 at his home.

He was born in Toledo, Ohio. He graduated from Clay High School in Oregon, Ohio in 1966. He lettered in football and was named an All Great Lakes League player.

Mr. Shuler was a retired machinist, working in the canning industry in both Ohio and California. He moved to Livermore in 1985 and worked for Del Monte Foods. He was transferred to Oakdale and worked at the cannery until he retired.

After his retirement, he drove a taxi cab for Red Top Taxi in Modesto. He enjoyed driving taxi and used to tell his family and friends the greatest stories about his passengers and their destinations.

He is survived by his sisters, Kathlyn Snyder (Brian Andresen), Marlee (Glenn) Castleman, Shari (Earl) Moore and Nancy Blase; brothers, Jim (Sharron) Shuler, Ron (Carole) Shuler; brother-in-law, Ron Miller; and his friend, Selena Fagrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marita and Leroy Shuler; and his sister, Janet Miller.
