Jerry David Stewart, 73, of Imperial Beach died Tuesday, July 12 at the San Diego Hospice House.
He was born in Phoenix, Ariz. and moved to Irvington at the age of 10.
Mr. Stewart worked for Pacific State Steel for 23 years. In 1990, he began his career in real estate and became a broker.
He enjoyed flat track racing and became an expert, riding both Triumphs and Harleys.
Recently, he was a missionary in the Bahamas and Mexico.
He worked with orphanages to better equip children with sporting goods.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Modesto and attended Church of Christ in San Diego.
He will be missed.
He is survived by his children, Todd Stewart of Modesto, Bradd (Debbie) Stewart of Escalon, Greg (Rachel) Stewart of Boise, Idaho, Wesley (DeBora) Stewart of Imperial Beach, Austin (Monica) Stewart of San Jose; stepsons, Mike (Cathy) O’Lander of Oakdale, Matt (Darcy) O’Lander of Sacramento; sister, Debbie Cimino of Modesto; brothers, Lawrence (Hon) Stewart of Pasadena, Danny Stewart of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Ken Stewart and Jim Arrowsmith, both of Waterford; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, David Stewart.
A viewing was held July 18 at Allen Mortuary, Turlock.A graveside service was held July 19 at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon. A reception followed at River Oak Grace Community Church, Oakdale.
A Jerry Stewart Fund has been set up to help his family with funeral expenses.
Any funds left over will be donated to “Doors of Faith” or “Community Hospice San Diego.”
