Janice Fern Himes passed from this earth on December 13, 2019, after a long health decline and short hospital stay in Daly City, CA. She was born November 23, 1940 in Auburn, CA, the first child of Charles Dale Himes and Iona Dilley Himes. She attended Auburn elementary schools before the family moved to Oakdale, CA. Janice graduated from Oakdale High School in 1959 and attended Modesto Jr. College and Stevens Airline School in Missouri. While in High School she was a member of the Order of Rainbow for Girls, where she was proud and honored to receive the highest award given, the Grand Cross of Color. She moved to San Francisco where she lived the rest of life, enjoying the music and culture of the City, from the Fillmore to North Beach and points in-between and most importantly, her beloved San Francisco Giants.

Janice was predeceased by her parents, and leaves behind a sister, Karen (Kandy) Harter (Gene) and niece Carolyn Harter Godfrey (John) and nephew Bruce Harter (Dawna), two great nieces and three great nephews, many cousins and their families, as well as three lifelong friends from their childhood in Auburn, Susan Marshall Wren, Rosemary Morton Lane and Kate Frawley Gamble.

Janice was laid to rest beside her parents and grandmother in a family graveside service in Burwood Cemetery, Escalon. Arrangements were handled by Oakdale-Riverbank Memorial Chapels.
