IRIS MARIE EVENSON KNOEBEL

Iris was born in Eureka, KS to Duke and Edna Evenson. Her parents divorced when she was five and she spent her youth in the care of her grandmother and father. She came, as a young teen, to Manteca. She graduated from Manteca HS in 1958. Her family moved to Santa Cruz and she worked in San Jose.

In 1962 she married Herb Knoebel and together had two daughters, Sonja and Jill. They raised their family in Sunnyvale/Mountain View. She kept house and managed books for her husband’s roofing business. Iris owned a sandwich shop for a time and went on to work in bookkeeping and payroll for Fujitsu, from which she retired. Retiring to Oakdale to be close to her grandchildren Ronny and Summer. She took pride in her family and her gifts. She was bookkeeper for Oakdale Swim Team for several years which she enjoyed along with cooking, needle work and word games. She will be remembered for her warmth and generosity. She went to be with Our Lord, after a short battle with cancer, in Santa Cruz with her family at her side.
