Barbara E. Johnson, a longtime Oakdale resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born in Quincy, Massachusetts, to Lester and Gladys Turner.
Barbara was predeceased by her sister Cynthia Jackson, brother Lester Turner, and son Matthew Paulsen. She is survived by her devoted husband of many years, Newell “Tom” Johnson, with whom she shared a remarkable life of adventure and love.
Barbara retired in 1991 from Tri-Valley Growers, where she worked as a Warehouse Manager. Following retirement, she and Tom fulfilled a lifelong dream of sailing the South Pacific aboard their yacht Aggravation hand built by her husband. Their voyage reflected Barbara’s adventurous spirit and deep partnership with her husband.
At home, Barbara found joy in gardening, where her nurturing touch brought beauty and life to everything she grew. She cherished her family above all, instilling in them the values she held dear: Honesty, Integrity, Honor, and Devotion to loved ones.
Barbara is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Rebecca Overturf and Susan Cutrell, and her sons, Alan Johnson, William “Bill” Johnson, David Johnson, and Gordon Johnson. She is remembered as a proud and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and guidance will be forever treasured.
Barbara will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and with those she loved.
