Barbara Chapman passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 79 on April 4, 2020 from Dementia. Barbara was born December 15, 1940 to Ray and Delma Jackson of Escalon, Ca. She has been a resident of Escalon and Oakdale her whole life. Barbara married the love of her life, Nolan Chapman, Sr. of Oakdale on December 31, 1999. They loved to get together with friends and watch NASCAR, listen to music, dance and just hang out with family and friends. They loved all their children and grandchildren very much. Barbara worked at Thrifty’s, which then became Rite-Aid, in Oakdale. She loved interacting with the customers and helping in any way she could. She retired from Rite-Aid in 2009.
Barbara is preceded in death by her loving husband; Nolan Chapman, Sr., children; Rick Drewrey, Christi Drewrey, Kim Chapman, grandson; Michael Raffety, parents; Ray and Delma Jackson, siblings; Roy Jackson, Billy Ray Jackson and Janice Watson. She is survived by her children, Steve Drewrey (Luann) of Oakdale, Vicki Saski (Shiro) of Nipomo, Louise Manning (Kevin) of Oakdale, Kelly Drewrey (Mark Peters) of Oakdale and Nolan Chapman, Jr. of Oakdale. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barbara (our mom) will be deeply missed. Her smile, laughter, (and towards the end) her awkward sense of humor brightened everyone’s day. When she smiled to show her dimples or raised her eyebrows up and down and gave that wink, we knew she was having a good day, and for the most part, every day was a good day for her. She loved being around her grandchildren, they made her smile every day.
Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Chapman family. A viewing will be held Friday, April 10, 2020 from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin St., Escalon, CA 95320. Barbara’s final resting place will be at Burwood Cemetery. Due to the current situation, we are requesting that you take precautionary measures to keep our family and yours safe and healthy. A memorial service will be determined for a later date.
