Happy Thanksgiving to each of you. Thanksgiving is a wonderful day of celebration … a day to celebrate a bountiful harvest season … a day of families loving and appreciating each other; it’s a day for families to be grateful for the blessings that God has brought into our homes. For most, it is a day of togetherness … truly a day of thanksgiving. It will be a day of coming together; a freshly baked turkey hot out of the oven, golden buttered yams, mashed potatoes, delicious homemade pies … a bountiful table. I hope each of you will be surrounded by family and very dear friends. I know that for some of you it will be a difficult Thanksgiving … for some it will be a much quieter day. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you.
This year our family will once again come together; we will be grateful for God’s blessings. We will remember those who are not at our Thanksgiving table, those who we so dearly miss. We will honor their memories with the dishes they loved at Thanksgiving time. My children and grandchildren will make the dishes that are so dear to our hearts, special dishes that will bring sweet and tender memories back to each of us. They will also make new dishes and create wonderful new memories. My heart will especially remember the tender memories of Thanksgivings past! This is the seventh year my beloved Richard will not be at our earthly family Thanksgiving table, his deep love for our family and our dear friends will forever be present with us. I remember and honor the memory of the man I met in the fall of 1968; he was 18 years old and I was just 17. Thanksgiving was only a few days away and I remember thinking he was the coolest. Now, at 72 years old, in my heart I still think he’s the coolest …
I hope you each have a very nice Thanksgiving. This is the day God has given us. God’s blessings to each of you. Happy Thanksgiving.
